Rangers Sign Kosta Nedeljković on Loan With Obligation to Buy From Aston Villa

Rangers have signed Aston Villa right back Kosta Nedeljković on loan for the season, with a reported obligation to buy worth £4million if he meets a minimum threshold of games. The 20-year-old joined Aston Villa from Red Star Belgrade in his native Serbia, before being shipped on loan to RB Leipzig in an injury hampered campaign last season. And now at Ibrox as Derek McInnes’ eleventh signing, the Serbian international spoke on his delight to join Rangers. He told the club’s official media channels: “I am very excited. Rangers is such a big club, a big family, and I am excited to join and help the team have success together. “For me, it was an easy decision after meeting with the coach; I only wanted Rangers. It is a big opportunity and a big responsibility. “I always try to be positive and work hard so I am ready to help the team.” There had been calls from fans and former players in the media to bring back former club captain James Tavernier, who left Glasgow’s Southside after ten years at the end of last season following a fallout with then manager Danny Rohl. But with Nedeljković joining as the second right-back this window after Ross McCrorie, it seems unlikely Derek McInnes will make a move for the 34-year-old now. McInnes said: “Kosta is a talented young player who we are really pleased to bring to the club. “He has already gained some valuable experience at a high level in England and Germany, as well as representing Serbia internationally. “Kosta is an athletic and energetic full-back who is keen to get forward, but he also has a real desire to defend and compete, and he will further strengthen a key area for us. “I look forward to welcoming Kosta to Rangers, and working with him moving forward.” McInnes confirmed in another press conference that fellow loan recruit James Penrice has been registered for Rangers’ UEFA Europa Conference League squad, and the intention is for Nedeljković to be the second of the Blues permitted changes. This means Nedeljković could be in line for a home debut tomorrow against Czech side FK Jablonec after training with his teammates today. Rangers, like all Scottish clubs in Europe, opted to postpone their fixture this weekend for rest between their pivotal European playoff ties, so Nedeljković first possible taste of domestic affairs won’t come until at least August 30th when the Ibrox side travel to Aberdeen.
Premier Sports Cup Quarter-Final Draw

The Premier Sports Cup quarter-final draw has delivered a standout fixture, with Rangers hosting Celtic in a huge Glasgow derby for a place in the semi-finals. Rangers vs Celtic immediately takes centre stage as the biggest tie of the round. One of Scotland’s two biggest clubs will exit the competition before the semi-final stage, adding even more importance to an already high profile meeting. Meanwhile, Stenhousemuir have been rewarded for their impressive cup run with a home tie against Hearts. The League One side will now have the chance to produce another major performance against Premiership opposition. Hearts will travel to Stenhousemuir knowing that expectations will be firmly on their shoulders. Their hosts can approach the contest without the same pressure, creating an intriguing test for both teams. Elsewhere, Ross County will welcome Hibernian in an all-Premiership encounter. Home advantage could prove important for County, although Hibs will have their sights firmly set on reaching the last four. Another competitive fixture sees Kilmarnock take on Aberdeen. Both clubs have the quality and experience to progress, meaning the contest could be decided by small moments rather than a wide margin. The draw has created a strong mix of rivalry and good competition. The Old Firm will command most of the attention, but the other three ties offer genuine opportunities for every club involved.
Liam McFarlane Signs Hearts Contract Extension

Liam McFarlane has signed a new contract with Hearts, extending his stay at the Edinburgh club until 2029. The 21-year-old goalkeeper is currently on loan at Partick Thistle, where he has started the season in the Championship. McFarlane kept clean sheets in Thistle’s opening league matches against Greenock Morton and Livingston. The goalkeeper joined Hearts’ academy before progressing into senior football through loan spells with East Fife and Alloa Athletic. He has also represented Scotland at youth level and was involved around the senior squad as a training goalkeeper during the summer. McFarlane’s new agreement secures his position with Hearts beyond his current spell at Partick Thistle and gives the club a long term commitment from one of its young goalkeepers.
Motherwell Boost Attacking options with “Perfect Addition”
Motherwell have confirmed the signing of striker Seb Palmer-Houlden from Gillingham for an undisclosed fee. The 22-year-old has signed a two-year contract, with the Steelmen holding the option of an additional year. Keen Scottish Premiership fans will remember Palmer-Houlden from his loan spell at Dundee in 2024-25, scoring nine goals in 39 appearances for Tony Docherty’s side. He announced himself to the Dark Blues with a Derby Day equaliser in a 2-2 draw at Tannadice. Motherwell boss Alfred Johansson hopes to have the attacker available for Thursday’s crunch European tie with Freiburg. “We’ve been looking to strengthen in the forward areas and Seb is a perfect addition,” manager Alfred Johansson said. “With experience here in Scotland, Seb has been playing and scoring at his previous clubs and offers pace, strength and versatility in the forward line.” Palmer-Houlden added that he was delighted to be back in the Scottish top flight. “I’m so happy to be back in Scotland and, most importantly, at Motherwell,” he said. “It’s no secret how well this club is doing right now. Speaking to the manager, he’s made it clear what he wants me to do and that clarity is so important. “I think every footballer would want to play in a team like this, so I feel really privileged to be given this opportunity.”
