Aidan Gilbride, a 26-year-old from East Kilbride, currently pursuing an MA in Sports Journalism at Edinburgh Napier University. From the age of 8 to 25, I was dedicated to endurance and distance running, a journey that led me to the United States on an NCAA Track and Cross-Country Scholarship. I spent a year at Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire and four years at the University of Mount Olive in North Carolina, graduating in 2022 with dual Bachelor’s Degrees in Sports Communication and Sports Management. My time in the U.S. provided me with invaluable experience in sports media. I was the Lead Commentator, analyst, and pitch-side reporter for live sporting events across campus, while also creating, producing, and hosting the university’s flagship podcast, where I interviewed athletes, coaches, and faculty. Additionally, I contributed to the university newspaper, writing for the sports section. While running has been a lifelong passion, my true love has always been football. It’s the sport I follow most closely and enjoy discussing above all others. Despite supporting a top-flight team, I stay informed on Scottish football at every level, from the lower leagues to the top tier. I’m excited about the opportunity to contribute to SPFL News Now in the months ahead and look forward to making an impact.
