Kilmarnock winger Greg Kiltie admitted that Kilmarnock’s draw at home against ten-man St Johnstone was “massively disappointing” while stressing the need for fan support during this difficult run.
The Kilmarnock captain and youth academy product had a strong personal performance against St Johnstone – chipping in with an assist and constantly looking to start attacks for his side.
This was not enough on the day however, as a combination of poor finishing and vulnerability at the back meant that Kilmarnock drew 2-2 with a St Johnstone side who were playing with 10 men for the vast majority of the game.
When discussing his feelings after the game, Kiltie said “the overwhelming feeling is disappointment”. Kiltie also stated that “to give the goals away that we gave away is embarrassing”.
Kiltie stressed that the result was down to the team as a whole and not just the defenders, and said that “we need to stand up and take responsibility”. He also emphasised that the result was not down to a lack of preparation, explaining that “the staff do lots of work behind the scenes and show us where we can do better”.
When asked to address the fan frustration, Kiltie said “my message to the fans is that this is when we definitely need them the most”. He also related to the fan frustration, saying that “I totally get their frustration….I am frustrated on the pitch”.
Kilmarnock will face Celtic at Celtic Park in their next league game on Sunday the 8th of November.
