A fresh start for Dundee United?

Going into an international off the back of a big win has pros and cons. Some fans see it as a potential loss of momentum, but it also means those fans won’t have to mull over a poor performance for three weeks.

Dundee United have had an odd start to their season. Big away wins over Kilmarnock and St. Mirren combined with a three-game losing run without a single goal have left United fans wondering what the true ceiling of their side will be this season.

Dundee United are currently enjoying a warm-weather training camp in the Algarve. Jim Goodwin has thankfully recovered from his health scare which prevented him from being on the touchline for three matches.

His return was marked by United’s 3-0 win away to St Mirren just before the break, and fans will hope that his presence on the touchline can steady the ship.

The mood inside the camp is positive. Speaking to DUTV, striker Lachlan Rose said: “We have a plan. You can see how we want to play.

It might not have gelled as much at the start as what everyone wanted but it is coming, you can see it”.

Dundee United return to action against Hibernian at home on the 10th of October before playing St Johnstone and Aberdeen home and away respectively in the following two weeks.

A points return is hard to predict based on their start to the season.

A good run of form will have fans looking at the top six, while further inconsistency may have fans looking nervously down at the bottom-end of the table. After another chaotic summer transfer window, Jim Goodwin will be hoping that this international break can provide Dundee United with the fresh start they need.
