Steven Pressley admitted that he “wanted a win” after Dundee earned a well-deserved draw at home to in-form Rangers.
His side had the better of the first half and had multiple chances to extend their 1-0 lead before Badredine Bouanani equalised for the away side.
Pressley said: “The aspect we’re disappointed in is that we went in tied at half-time and didn’t capitalise on the big moments. Rangers came back out strong and put us under enormous pressure, but typical of the group we react, and react in a positive and forceful way.”
Prior to the match, Pressley had talked about emphasising the importance of basics and bravery over tactics when approaching the Rangers game.
The Dundee manager witnessed both those qualities in abundance on Saturday night as his side battled to a 2-2 draw. Pressley said “The word I used prior to the game was bravery and we showed that in possession. There are really pleasing aspects, but I wanted a win tonight.”
Rangers came out strong in the second half and looked to be running away with the game before Dan Neil’s mistake gifted Dundee the equaliser through Callum Jones.
Speaking about the second half, Pressley said “Rangers came back out strong and put us under enormous pressure, but typical of the group we react, and react in a positive and forceful way. It epitomises the team at this moment in time”.
Dundee have made a great start to the season so far, and Pressley will be hoping that his side will continue their good form when they visit St Mirren next Saturday.
