Reports from journalist Graeme Bailey are indicating Chelsea winger Estêvâo is becoming frustrated around a lack of game time under new coach Xabi Alonso.
New Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso seems to have his front three of Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers and João Pedro nailed down. The Brazilian was absent for yesterday’s 2-0 loss at home to Spurs, leading to Portuguese youngster Geovany Quenda being handed his first start.
Estêvão joined Chelsea from Palmeiras for a reported £29,000,000 last summer, scoring eight goals and providing four assists last season, but has struggled to break into Alonso’s side so far this season.
The highly rated youngster has been limited to a mere 47 minutes in the league this season, which supposedly comes as a shock to the 20-year-old.
Quenda may well retain his place next week given Cole Palmer’s suspension, but with João Pedro’s injury largely coming out of the blue, Estêvão could find himself in a make shift Chelsea front three for Xabi Alonso’s return to Anfield on Wednesday night in the Carabao Cup, especially given big teams tendencies to rotate in the tournament.
