Falkirk 1-2 Dundee: Dundee show team spirit in dramatic comeback win

Falkirk 1-2 Dundee

Murrell (31’ pen) O.Bevan (52’), Hay (90’+1)

Dundee battled on through an ongoing injury crisis to secure a dramatic injury time winner at the Falkirk Stadium.

Dundee had the better of the opening exchanges and had Falkirk under significant pressure, but were not able to convert their chances. Former Dundee goalkeeper Scott Bain did well to keep the score at 0-0.

The momentum shifted just after the half-hour mark when Calum Jones fouled Finley Barbrook and the hosts were awarded a penalty, which was converted by Jacob Murrell.

The hosts improved after the opening goal and had a couple of chances to double their lead before half-time, but were wasteful in front of goal.

Dundee were never out of the game, however, and found an equaliser just seven minutes into the second half when Owen Bevan headed in his second goal of the season from a Drey Wright cross.

Both sides had great chances to take the lead from then on but were again let down by wasteful shooting. Owen Goodman in the Dundee goal continued his impressive run of form, making top-quality saves to deny both Murrell and Krauhaus.

The game looked set to end 1-1, but the visitors kept pushing and scored the winner in the 91st minute. Ethan Hamilton’s free-kick delivery found Ashley Hay, who reacted quickly to slot it past Bain from close range.

Dundee now find themselves in fourth place, much to the delight of the travelling support.

Dundee welcome in-form Rangers to Dens Park next week, looking to continue their impressive start to the season.

Falkirk face Hibernian at Easter Road next week as new manager Marink Reedijk searches for his first win.
