Dundee complete the signing of wide midfielder Alfie Harrison.
20-year-old Alfie Harrison has agreed to join Dundee on a short-term contract until January, with an option to extend further. The youngster was initially on trial and was involved in some friendly matches during the extended international break, finding the net in one of those friendlies.
Harrison has played 57 matches for Newcastle’s U21s, finding the net on 5 occasions. Before joining Newcastle, Harrison was part of Man City’s youth set up, where he stayed from the age of 10 until he turned 18.
Harrison said:
“I’ve loved every bit of my trial. From the first day I stepped into the building, it felt like the right atmosphere. It was somewhere I wanted to show what I’m about, and now hopefully I can push on and keep doing my thing.
“The way everyone has welcomed me, you can see the love for the club. I’d love to be here for a long period of time, but that’s down to me to show.”
Steven Pressley on what Harrison can bring to his Dundee side:
“We had a feeling that when the window closed, our business was complete, but due to unforeseen circumstances around injury, we’ve been forced back into the market.
“As a result of that, Alfie joined us on trial several weeks ago and has worked really hard.
“We think he’s a young player with great potential that can add competition to the squad, and we’re delighted to welcome Alfie on board.”
