St Johnstone climb into the top five following a narrow 1-0 win at Aberdeen.
Aberdeen began the game very slowly, creating very few chances allowing St Johnstone to get into the game although there wasn’t exactly too much between the two sides in the early stages.
Just 14 minutes into the first half, the visitors were awarded a spot-kick which was originally dismissed by the referee but following a lengthy VAR check, the penalty was awarded after Jack Milne handled the ball inside the box which saw Josh Fowler fire his side in front which was fired right down the centre.
Mouloua would then have a chance of his own, creating some space for himself just outside the box to take on a strike which was well stopped by Stewart in goal not long after a coming together with the keeper.
Aberdeen then suffered a blow not too long later as Mouloua who collided with Toby Stewart earlier was taken off after going down in the box due to a suspected concussion which saw Lewis Smith take his place.
Aberdeen just before the break had the perfect chance to level things up as Nisbet had the ball along the flank with his effort being well blocked once again by Toby Stewart.
Into the second half, Aberdeen would count themselves lucky as a poor pass by Knoester to Muller was intercepted by Paton as Muller tried to smash clear, but the ball would smash off of Paton but luckily for the Dons, the ball was unable to bounce goal bound.
Aberdeen continued to pile on pressure in search of an equaliser with Mahou who came on for his Aberdeen debut had a chance of his own which smashed the side netting.
Stephen Robinson’s side had plenty of chances to find a goal, but just proved to be lacking any cutting edge in the final third and was clear it was just going to be one of those days as the Dons were unable to find a route back into it.
For St Johnstone, a well earnt victory on their travels in front of a strong travelling support as Simo Valakari’s men jump into the top half, sending all travelling fans down the road delighted.
Next up for Aberdeen is a home match with St Mirren who have conceded eight times in their last two with St Johnstone hosting in-form Dundee United at McDiarmid Park.
