Celtic 7-1 Hearts - Celtic

Celtic ease past last season’s runner-ups, with goals from Tierney, Nygren, Osmand, Duran and an own goal by McCart seals all three points for last season’s champions.

Hearts opened the game up with the first counter attack which soon ended as Kingsley smashed an attempt over the bar.

Celtic soon after found themselves in front as a corner into the box found Scales as he headed it towards Tierney who was unmarked to head home to fire the Champions ahead.

It didn’t take Martin O’Neil’s men long to fire in a second, and once again, a corner into the box as Baur flicked a ball into Dane Murray which landed to Nygren where the midfielder made no mistake and added a second for Celtic.

Just after 15 minutes, Hassan with a brilliant turn to get away from Kingsley made a darting run goal-bound with his low strike smashing the post to deny Celtic their third of the afternoon.

Hassan did ever so well to work his way down the right-hand side, he then squared the ball to Nygren who took on a powerful, but low strike which was stopped by the leg of Reus.

Hearts had a chance on 29 minutes, a cross from distance by Altena which was lobbed into the box which found the head of McCart who fired his header just wide of target.

The Jambos began to show some improvement following a scramble within the box which Hearts just couldn’t get a shot off as Mika Baur cleared away from danger.

Celtic had their third through Osmand who sealed their ever so precious title last campaign, Hearts making life difficult for themselves with Duran slotting the ball through to the striker as Osmand nicely tucks it into the bottom right-hand corner.

The fourth soon went in as again, Hearts create problems again as Duran latched onto it and made a darting run down the ride-hand side, his initial shot stopped which landed back at Duran who flicked it to Osmand who headed in for number four.

Mendy soon had Hearts one back as McPake found the midfielder on the edge of the box which the former Forrest Green Rovers midfielder smashed a low strike into the bottom right-hand corner.

Number five arrived just before the break as Baur did exceptionally well, working his way into the box and chipped the ball over Reus and there was Kingsley who tapped it onto the boot of McCart who was sliding in which ended as an own-goal for the Hearts defender.

5 minutes into the second 45, Duran added himself to the scoresheet as Tierney surged forward, slot it into Duran who calmly swept it into the bottom left-hand corner to wrap up all three points in style with still 40 minutes to play.

It’s been a very open game, with both sides having chances although the score doesn’t reflect that for Hearts, they’ve had plenty chances themselves, but it’s Celtic who have been clinical.

Substitute Kerjota wasn’t far off it from the edge of the box as he wrapped a shot goal bound but was just over the bar as the game began to quiet down with Hearts out of sight.

Nygren added number seven in the final stages as Kasper Hogh made a nice turn and plays the ball into the Celtic number eight as Nygren slots it home to pile on the misery for Hearts.

Overall, a brilliant three points for the hosts after a ten-out-of-ten performance as Hearts were miles off it from kick-off as Celtic move four clear of Rangers who were held to a draw in Dundee, and for Hearts, they still remain in third, just two points ahead of Dundee.
