Hibernian FC fan group Block Seven have been banned from attending the club’s next three games after an anger-fuelled incident following their game against Dundee United last weekend.
The club and the SPFL agreed to the sanction after rowdy, violent full-time scenes at Tannadice, where supporters were seen scuffling with police at the front of the stand behind the goal.
Things kicked off when Hibs players went across to speak to fans after their 1-0 loss, but had to scurry as individuals tried to encroach onto the pitch, before police intervened and were forced to make arrests.
It means that Block Seven are not welcome at Hibernian’s next three games, where they host Falkirk and Celtic at Easter Road before facing St Mirren in Paisley.
In a statement, Hibs said “The safety and wellbeing of every supporter who attends our matches is a top priority for the football club. No one should feel unsafe or uncomfortable when supporting Hibernian, and behaviour that puts others at risk is unacceptable.”
This is the second banning order Block Seven have faced in Hibs’ eight league games to date. They were also locked out of Easter Road for their 1-0 loss to Kilmarnock in September following unsavoury scenes the previous weekend against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.
Block Seven are yet to comment on the incident or their suspension.
