Hibernian midfielder Miguel Chaiwa is confident Hibernian will begin to pick up points despite an ongoing winless run.
Hibs currently sit bottom of the table after the opening 10 games and yesterday’s 2-1 loss to Celtic at Easter Road means the Leith side are without a home win in the league since January.
The hosts took the lead early on against Celtic yesterday, thanks to an early Owen Elding strike, but a Jason Kerr own goal almost immediately after levelled things up before Camilo Durán won it for Celtic on the cusp of half-time.
However, Miguel Chaiwa was certain that Hibs are headed in the right direction despite a poor start under Reedijk, he said: “I see some positives, some really good positives. Looking at the way we’re going as a team, we’re trying to stick together each and every time.”
Chaiwa was also quizzed on the big week ahead for Hibs, on Wednesday they’re set for, as things stand, a relegation six-pointer away to St. Mirren, before the Premier Sports Cup semi-final against Hearts on Sunday, speaking on the week ahead, Chaiwa said: “Like I said, it’s done and dusted. We just need to take the positives because agains St. Mirren we just need to be fully focussed and not repeat our mistakes like what happened in today’s game. We are trying to be together, be positive as a group.”
The midfielder was then pushed on what positives he was referring to, he said: “Being more in control with the ball and knowing what we want to do with the ball. For us, it’s more like a clear factor for the team. Looking at how the gaffer wants us to play, it’s really happening on the pitch.”
He was also asked how important Hibs perceive a tangible result to be on Wednesday night, given Reedijk is yet to register a point in charge of the Easter Road side, Chaiwa said: “I might say being positive and believing in what we’re doing right now.
“I know it’s been really, really hard for this club. For us, going toe-to-toe with Celtic, despite our own mistakes, we’re looking forward to the next game.”
When asked if Chaiwa excepted results to follow the performances, he said: “Yes, definitely.”
