Scots Abroad Watch week five: Gilmour on scoresheet for Napoli

After missing over a month due to heart surgery, Scott McTominay has enjoyed an emphatic period in front of goal for Napoli once more. The midfielder scored four goals this week as Napoli won in Europe. Kieron Bowie  also reclaimed his starting spot over Sebastiano Esposito in the Sassuolo front line.

Kieron Bowie & Josh Doig: Despite a 2-0 loss to Cesc Fabregas’ Como side, Kieron Bowie returned to the Sassuolo starting XI for the first time since early September. Conversely, Josh Doig spent a rare match on the bench, but seen out the last half-hour with Sassuolo already 2-0 down.

Scott McTominay: During the midweek, Napoli defeated perennial European dark horses Bødo/Glimt 4-3, thanks to two goals from McTominay. The win registered Napoli their first Champions League points this season. He continued this form with another brace at the weekend in the Derby del Sud as Napoli drew 3-3 with Roma.

Fellow Scotsman Billy Gilmour was an unused substitute in both fixtures.

Ryan Porteous: The defender played just over an hour for LAFC in the ‘El Traffico’ against LA Galaxy, picking up a yellow card in the 2-2 draw.  As Play-off season approaches in the MLS, LAFC currently sit sixth in the Western Conference.

Andy Irving: The Edinburgh born midfielder played the whole 90 minutes, providing a goal and assist as Sparta Prague defeated Slovacko 5-1 in the Czech First League. The win currently leaves Sparta second in the table, six points behind rivals Slavia.
