Sebastien Pocognoli has added LAFC defender Ryan Porteous to the Scotland camp after Stephen Welsh has withdrawn with injury.
The ex-Hibs defender has played 31 matches for LAFC as they find themselves sixth in the MLS Western Conference with play-offs approaching.
Capped for the National Team 13 times, Porteous made his debut in 2022 in a 0-0 draw against Ukraine, earning man of the match in the process.
The Dalkeith native was a mainstay in Steve Clarke’s side for a period, but has only played one minute for Scotland since his red card in the EURO 2024 opener against Germany, coming on as a late substitute in a 1-0 win away to Greece 20 months ago.
Welsh has played all 14 league games for Swansea this season as they sit fifth in the Championship. Unfortunately, the defender has to drop out of the Scotland camp so soon after making his debut in September. He was substituted after 24 minutes during their 3-1 loss at Fratton Park on the weekend.
Porteous now joins up with a Scotland squad looking to close out the UEFA Nations League campaign on a high after a disappointing opening four games. Scotland will host North Macedonia on Friday before travelling to St. Gallen to take on Switzerland the following Monday.
